Hi!
I’m Teresa Gregorio, and I design knitwear. CanaryKnits is a bloggy compendium of my pattern design, general knit-related happiness and the odd crafty endeavour.
My knitting history is unlike many other knitters; I didn’t have a kindly grandmother to teach me the art (though she is pretty mad awesome with crochet). Instead, I learned from books, way back in the early dawnings of 2002. Enjoying a challenge, I jumped into designing shortly thereafter.
I knew early on that I’d love to share my patterns with the knitting community. You can see some of my work in the online publication Knotions, the book Brave New Knits, and a number of self-published patterns and collections.
During the daylight hours I work as a museum professional; I devote every other scrap of time to day dreaming, sketching, swatching, fiddling, and otherwise creating knitting patterns. Generally, my design aesthetic tends toward feminine, fun, and unique pieces. I was always that one kid who (quietly) had to take her own creative license with things. My designs have that (soft)edge of personality.
And my writing has a tendency to over-punctuation, the manufacture of words (because hey, English just doesn't always have enough!) and the inability to take itself srsly.
Thanks for visiting my wee bloggy! I’d love to hear from you, so please feel free to contact me!
